| Parish Center | Task
Force on Racial Attack and Harassment
In January 2002, MPC opened a Parish Center to house our expanding ministry with African refugees and students. Our Task Force on Racial Attacks is now based in the Center; from this office, refugees make reports on harassment or attacks, receive peer and spirutual couseling, and gain assistance in preparing refugee and immigration paperwork. The Center houses our growing library of English-language textbooks and theological books, as well as a reading room for Africans to gather in peace and security, luxuries hard to find in Moscow. A recent donations of computers allows our students and refugees to conduct on-line research and communicate with family members back home. In short, this Center offers a place for Africans to meet in dignity and safety for spiritual, material, and legal support. Outside our community, such as oasis in Moscow for people of color simply does not exist. If you can assist in developing the ministry of our Parish Center, please contact us. |
